| Term | Explanation |

| AI Agent | An autonomous AI system that can make decisions, take actions, and adapt its output based on context or goals. |
| AI Automation | A series of steps designed with logic to perform tasks while utilising AI. An automation can be deterministic (defined steps and outcomes) or agentic (can decide through multiple agents how to reach the desired outcome). |
| Voice Agent | A text to speech (TTS) automated system that can speak to users in a conversational situation using AI to generate response. |
| MCP | Model Context Protocol - a framework that manages context, tasks, and communication between AI agents in an automation system. Usually found in complex automations to manage multiple tools or APIs. |
| API | Application Programming Interface - a way for different software or AI systems to communicate and exchange data automatically. |
| LLM | Large Language Model - an AI trained on vast amounts of text to understand, generate, and interact using natural language. Examples include ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini or Meta AI. |
| RAG | Retrieval-Augmented Generation - combines a language model with external data sources to generate more accurate, context-aware responses. |
| Prompt Engineering | The practice of designing effective inputs (prompts) to guide AI models toward accurate and useful outputs. |
| Workflow Orchestration | The automated coordination of tasks, tools, and AI agents to complete complex processes efficiently and reliably. |
| Node | A single node in an automated workflow - e.g. to perform an action or upload to a database. |
| Local LLM | A LLM that is deployed locally on-premises to avoid using cloud based systems. e.g Llama or Mistral. Benefits for security and fine-tuning. |
| Vector Database | A type of database that stores data as numerical vectors, enabling AI to search and retrieve information based on meaning rather than keywords. |
