GDPR can often be an after-thought in automating workflows. Yet, most will freely send data across LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude, or Google Gemini without any considerations to data retention policies or data storage locations.
Using any Generative AI or LLM like ChatGPT, Claude, or Google Gemini means that you are sending data across to another server - possibly in the US (if you are based in EU or UK). The fact that these LLMs have no Zero-Data-Retention(ZDR) policies unless you are on an Enterprise plan means that if you are using ChatGPT or other LLMs for work use and sending any sensitive data or PII (Personally Identifiable Information) into the platform - you are most likely breaking GDPR policy.
